Birth is a huge deal—and most people walk into it knowing way less than they deserve to.
This 2-day CBE class is about real preparation, not scare tactics and not sugar-coating. We talk through how labor actually works, what contractions feel like, how to cope when things get intense, and how to make decisions when you’re tired, overwhelmed, or under pressure.
We cover pain management (both natural and medical), common interventions, how to advocate for yourself using informed consent, and how your partner can actually be helpful instead of just standing there unsure of what to do.
And we don’t stop at birth. We talk honestly about postpartum recovery, emotions, mental health, newborn feeding, sleep, and safety—because bringing a baby home is its own kind of transition.
The goal isn’t a “perfect” birth.
It’s helping you feel grounded, informed, and supported, no matter how your birth unfolds.
Explains how the pelvis, uterus, hormones, and baby work together during labor. Covers each stage of labor so families understand what’s happening in the body and what sensations to expect.
Helps families distinguish between early labor and active labor, understand when to call their provider, and feel confident about timing their arrival to the hospital or birth center.
Introduces hands-on tools for managing labor sensations, including breathing, movement, positioning, massage, and mental coping strategies. Partners practice active support skills.
Provides an unbiased overview of epidurals, IV medications, and other pain relief options, including benefits, risks, timing, and how each may affect labor.
Covers common interventions such as induction, continuous monitoring, assisted delivery, and cesarean birth, with an emphasis on informed consent and shared decision-making.
