About Katie, Your Doula

Not what I expected.

My journey started with my own pregnancy. i had already been a foster parent to newborns and thought I knew it all. I had no idea about postpartum OCD, Depression, Rage, Anxiety, Psychosis, and PTSD. My postpartum experience was beyond awful, and I committed myself to help as many women as possible through this challenging time. In my training, I learned that the best way to prevent postpartum mood disorders is by ensuring we have proper support in birth. Thus, I became a birth doula with my ultimate motive being to help prevent postpartum mental health struggles. Eventually I will open a baby-welcome postpartum crisis and community center. Who wants in?

In all seriousness- I have a passion for supporting moms in birth because I am committed to their best postpartum outcomes.

Qualifications

BEST Doula Training (2024)

I completed my Doula training with a company called BEST. The course was a comprehensive training covering comfort measures, hospital policy, birth options, postpartum struggles, medical abuse, financial power, systemic racism, and how we can change the world.

If you're thinking about becoming a Doula, or need recertification, lets talk!

MegiHealth High Risk Doula Training (2025)

A six-week training for those supporting clients facing hypertensive disorders, preeclampsia, and other medically complex pregnancies.  This program blends practical tools, trauma-informed care, and advocacy frameworks that reflect the real-world realities of high-risk pregnancy.

Understanding PMAD's (2025)

Postpartum Support Virginia's Understanding PMAD's is the certification needed to be a postpartum support virginia volunteer; It covers identifying postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (PMAD), how to help our mama's cope, and teaching families when and how to take action.

Mothers & Babies (2025)

Comnprehensive postpartum stress management training that enables us to teach you how to manage postpartum stressors, take time for yourself, and put your needs first.

Our Philosophy

We believe in autonomy. Full stop.

If you want a doula who is going to fight your battles. We are not it.

If you want a doula who will role play common fights you might have with your providers about your birthing wishes so you can advocate for yourself; Lets go!

Now, we are not going to sit back while a provider steam roles you in to submission. We will tell your OB that consent isn't being given. We will ask your provider to stop and listen to you. We will redirect your provider to your birth plan. But speak for you? No. You have a voice and it is powerful.

My purpose is to support you in the birthing and parenting decisions that you want. That means providing education so you can make those decisions for yourself. It also means being a shoulder to cry on when it all seems too overwhelming. Should you geta c-section or go for the organic vagina birth? I don't know, that's not up to us to decide. What we can do is give you the pros and cons to each option, and what each route looks like.

Respectfully, we do not care in the slightest if you want to be induced, medicated, c-sectioned, or not. We're here to provide information on your options, and educate you on other possible scenarios and options available to you.

Your partner; LOL They're in for a ride. We put your birth partner to work. They don't get to hang out and do nothing. They will be doing hip squeezes, counter pressure, and massaging your head; and getting ice chips. Don't worry, we don't replace them; they participate. Many non-birthing people don't know how to help. It's our job to teach them how.

Research has shown that having a doula can lead to shorter labor, fewer medical interventions, and a more positive birthing experience overall. Our doulas at Wild Wonders Doula LLC provide emotional and physical support throughout the entire labor and delivery process.

No, Wild Wonders Doula LLC supports all types of births including medicated, cesarean, and VBAC. Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment regardless on how or where you birth.

🏳️‍🌈 Yes Please! I love our community!

Consultations are extremely important for this reason. We have to jive. If you're not in love with me after we chat, it's unlikely that you're going to love me being in your birth space.

For Medicaid, you get a set number of appointments. If you transfer Doula's, you take with you your remaining sessions.

If you pay out of pocket, your deposit is non refundable. All sessions, perks, and the birth have a dollar value and you would receive a refund based on what services remain.

Postpartum refers to a period after you are no longer pregnant. If you suffer a loss, I will calmly and compassionately be here for you, whether that is in person or virtually.

Let's say you booked with me the day you found out you were pregnant, but at the 12 week scan you find out you've suffered a miscarriage. I cannot give a refund on a deposit made unless I am able to replace your spot. I always hold deposits untouched for this reason. However, loss is filled with grief and loneliness and it can feel unmanageable at times. I would urge you to use your deposit for postpartum visits.

Medicaid clients enjoy 6 one-hour sessions.

Out of pocket clients enjoy the amount of hours they've signed up for in at least 2 hour intervals. with overnights available.

We offer light cleaning, meal prep, scheduling help, baby care, partner support, resource referals, emotional support, and care navigation. We specialize in postpartum mental health. Our goal is to mitigate postpartum mood disorders, or help you develop skills to manage the depression, anxiety, and stress related to postpartum mood shifts.

Midwives are medical professionals who are equipped to handle emergencies, and catch babies. They, like OB's have multiple prenatal appointments with you to discus birth and medical things.

Doulas provide emotional support, birth and postpartum education, and teach families how to advocate for themselves in their birth. We provide evidence based birth education from the vitamin K shot to the detailed steps in labor and delivery and newborn care basics. We also spend a fair amount of time on postpartum preparedness as postpartum mood disorders are the #1 complication of birth.

I love that you have support! My job is to teach your inner circle how to help you in labor and delivery. Does your husband know how to do hip squeezes in a way that is comforting to you, and provides himself longevity. Does he know how to operate a tens unit? Does your mom know how to be a calm non-judgmental space holder for all of your decisions? Mine wouldn't be.
